Monthly Favorites: Things to Look Forward to in November

By Haniya Ghazi //

Changing Colors

Fall colors

The changing colors are the best thing about November as well as the fall and are definitely something to look forward to this month. The red, orange, and yellow colors are my favorite part of the season!

Sweater Weather

While we have gotten many chillier days recently, November calls for the complete transition into sweater weather. Fall and winter fashion boast some of the best styles out there, and I am excited to whip out my cozy sweater collection again!

An Extra Hour of Sleep

Alarm clock

Daylight savings has passed us, and though it gets darker faster, we get something we all love: more sleep! With school in full swing, that extra hour is necessary and something very exciting that takes place this time of year.

Holiday Music and Movies

“Home Alone”

Now that Halloween is over, it is time for holiday-themed music and movies to start playing again! Holiday movies are some of the best and get us in a festive spirit in no time. “Home Alone,” “Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch,” and “Elf” are some of my favorites.

Thanksgiving table

Obviously, this is the best part of November. Thanksgiving is a holiday full of giving thanks and stuffing your face with all of the best foods. If you ask me, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie are some of the pleasures I look forward to all year, and the time to eat them to my heart’s content is finally almost here!

Classes Going Completely Online

Zoom school

If you have an in-person class this semester, starting Thanksgiving break, you will be going completely remote. Remote learning may be challenging, but it also is something to look forward to because it allows for more time to spend with your family and friends and take time for yourself. Pick up a hobby! Learn a new skill! You will have more than enough time to do so.

Cyber Monday

With the pandemic, online shopping has become a new norm, and Cyber Monday is the queen of online shopping. Check on the Monday after Thanksgiving for all the best deals of the year all from the comfort of your bed.

Starbucks Holiday Drinks

On Nov. 6, Starbucks is releasing its seasonal festive red cups and holiday-flavored drinks. I, for one, always look forward to this and love the wintery and holiday flavors that are added to the menu. These drinks are coming soon, so don’t fret because your year-long wait to order these drinks is almost up!
