Dear Readers,
Fall is in full force; the warm humidity of summer is over, and the crisp air and brightly colored red, orange, and yellow leaves are here to stay — at least until the end of November. This is one of the most picturesque times to be on campus, and even with the ongoing pandemic, that hasn’t changed. All this surrounding beauty has us at The Spread thinking how grateful we are to attend the University of Illinois, so in honor of our school this season as well as the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, we have decided to make this issue’s theme “Give Thanks.”
In sticking to this theme, this issue is packed with pieces that will warm you from the inside out, from an article on little things to be thankful for this year to one on how to let someone know you’re thankful for them. Get into the charitable spirit with the piece on ways to give back this holiday season. For those of you most looking forward to the Thanksgiving feast, you’ll be over the moon for these features on delectable side dishes to contribute and sweet treats to indulge in on that anticipated Thursday. And if you’re the brave soul cooking this year, check out this article on how to accommodate any guests with allergies; it’s always good to have alternatives available for everyone.
This Thanksgiving will be different, just like any other holiday this year, but don’t let it get you down. This issue will ensure you can still celebrate with your family and friends, just like you should. Happy Thanksgiving!
Sincerely,
Rachel King, Editor-in-Chief
