Love is in the air in Champaign-Urbana this month, and there’s no better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day with your significant other than one of the many great spots on campus. Whether you’re looking for something casual or a three course meal, campus town has great spots for everyone.
Casual Meals
If you and your SO prefer a casual meal, here’s a few spots that are great choices.
The Bread Company has a European cuisine, but don’t let that turn you away. They offer sandwiches and salads for lunch, and a range of fondue to pizzas and pastas for dinner.
Sakanaya is an option if you’re looking to stay on Green St. Sakanaya is also a great place to get Asian cuisine for a good price.
Sun Singer is a short drive away from campus, but worth it. This restaurant has a wide variety of dishes with a small area to purchase wine and food from their deli.
We all know Maize at the Station is a fan favorite because even though it’s a cheap meal, the food is incredible. If you’re looking for a more relaxed meal with a fun environment, Maize at the Station is the best place for you.
Sit Down Dinners
If you and your SO are looking for a fancy sit down dinner, there are some great restaurants that suit everyone’s taste buds.
Miga is a modern Asian restaurant with a range of food from the classic California roll to Bibimbap.
Hamilton Walker’s is a seafood and steak restaurant that’s the best fit if you’re looking for an upscale experience.
Nando Milano is one of the best Italian restaurants in Champaign with house made pastas and a charming atmosphere.
Downtown Champaign
It can be hard to find a great date spot on campus, so another great area to look at is in downtown Champaign.
Destihl is always a popular choice on Mom’s and Dad’s weekends in Champaign, and for a good reason. Destihl offers a wide array of options for you and your valentine, and if you’re over 21, house-brewed beer.
Seven Saints is another favorite when parents come to town. It’s a great choice if you and your partner are craving different cuisines. From cheese curds to tilapia tacos, Seven Saints offers anything you can dream of.
Black Dog has a location in downtown Champaign, and one in Urbana making it easy to get to no matter where you live on campus. The food here is truly some of the best BBQ style I’ve ever had, and the best in the C-U area.
