Ever try to make a New Years resolution but find yourself failing every year to get it done? I can for sure say this about myself. Let’s make 2019 a little different with these simple, easy ideas for New Years resolutions. Anyone can be successful at these with a little bit of determination.
1. Spend less time staring at a screen and more time with friends and family.

While drawing away from your television, cell phone, and social media can sometimes be the hardest thing to achieve, it is truly very simple. This year, try to lessen your screen time by just a few minutes each day and instead spend that time with your loved ones. Not only is this a good resolution for your relationships with others, but also for your own overall health and wellbeing.
2. Drink more water.

Drinking more water is a perfect New Years resolution because if you are determined and diligent, it is easy for anyone to do and gain from. We could all drink some more water during the day for healthier lifestyles, so why not make this a new goal? Vow to carry around a reusable water bottle with you at all times and keep filling it up during the day.
3. Take time everyday for yourself.

College can be a stressful time. While you often become consumed by homework or studying, it is very important to take time each day to relax and have to yourself. A great and easy New Years resolution to accomplish is promising to take at least 10 minutes to clear your mind and not think about work. Whether this time takes the form of meditation, reading a book, listening to music, or lying down and doing nothing, it is very important to do something for yourself each day. This time is not only beneficial for your mental and physical health, but will make you even more productive to finish your work for the day.
4. Make sleep a priority.

Sleep is extremely important, and in order to have productive days, strive to make sleep more of a priority in 2019. Simply choosing to go to bed earlier instead of staying up late for no reason, or doing your work earlier in the day so that you can go home from the library sooner, are some potential ways to prioritize sleep in your life.
5. Begin each day with two positive thoughts.

For an overall better mental health, make 2019 the start of a habit of beginning each day with positive thoughts rather than negative. Each morning when you wake up, instead of thinking This is going to be the worst day I have to wake up and go to my 8 a.m. class, think Starting the day early means that I will end earlier, be able to relax tonight, and have a great evening! as an example. By thinking positively and optimistically about the day ahead instead of negatively, this will help you in having a better outlook on life.
