Dear 57 North,

On all the long nights I find myself staggering back to my dorm, I run into you along the way.

Your neon-lit highway sign and your bright lighting warmly invite me inside. The delightful aroma of boneless buffalo wings, quesadillas, and mozzarella sticks make my mouth water.

I wander aimlessly in between the aisles, my eyes searching for the perfect late-night snack. Savory or sweet? Big or small? Hot or cold? I don’t have to choose; you have it all.

Just when I think I know you like the back of my hand, you come and surprise me with some new revolutionary product that I become addicted to. Edible cookie dough has become my latest obsession.

You’ve also introduced me to junk food I never thought I would try: Halo Top Ice Cream, Munchies, and so much more.

Not only do you supply me with junk food, but also nutritious snacks. You care about my health, and it shows with your hummus and pretzel packs, your fruit cups, the abundance of salads displayed as soon as you enter, and all the rows of yogurt in the fridges.

When I’m sick, I don’t have to walk three-quarters of a mile to Walgreens for comfort food. Instead, I just walk a couple hundred feet to you and choose from the assortment of soups you offer because you’re concerned for my well-being.

Your ready-to-order wraps always hit the spot and are so convenient when I only have a small time gap in my schedule for lunch but want something substantial and diet-friendly. The same goes for your customizable sandwiches which you constantly toast to perfection.

With your customers and their needs in mind, you chose a prime location in the Six Pack where students encounter you on their way to and from classes and are conveniently able to purchase everything they need.

In short, you fulfill my cravings but also encourage me to be adventurous with my food choices. Thank you for providing me with my favorite foods while still pushing me out of my comfort zone and challenging me with new ones.

Even though I will be moving out of the dorms next semester, I will forever cherish the memories we’ve shared together.

Love always,

Rachel King
