Welcome to the February Issue

Dear Readers,

Welcome back to campus and to our very first issue of the Spring 2018 semester! The massive snowstorm that welcomed us back to campus has given away to increasingly warmer temperatures, and not too many assignments or exams are waiting on the horizon yet. That makes the start of this month the perfect time to explore campus and the surrounding Champaign-Urbana area, swap stories with friends over coffee, and just settle back into a routine for the rest of the semester.

This month, we’re kicking February off strong with plenty of content related to the winter season. We have an in-depth guide about different coat styles and how to make each one look stylish, as well as a playlist of motivational songs to help you keep up with any fitness goals you may have. We know how uninspiring it can be to work out in the cold, especially with how windy it gets. Thanks, Midwest weather!

Of course, February is also the month of romance, so another part of this issue is dedicated to Valentine’s Day. Check out some scrumptious dessert recipes to make for your sweetheart, or if you are unable to be with your other half that day, peruse our tips for making a long-distance Valentine’s Day date all the more romantic. In addition to these Valentine’s Day-related pieces, also make sure to check out the latest installments of Monthly Favorites and YouTubers of the Month for even more great recommendations from our staff to start off the semester right!

With that, I will leave the rest of the February issue to you! I hope you all have a wonderful month and a Valentine’s Day sweeter than a handful of Hershey’s Kisses. However, regardless of whether you spend Valentine’s Day with a significant other or alone, just remember that there are so many people who care about you. Make sure to devote some time to your family and friends this month, too, as you can always count on them to support you.

From everyone here at The Spread, stay warm and best of luck with classes. We hope you enjoy our opening issue of the semester, and I look forward to sharing even more content with you as the year progresses!
