1.) How the Grinch Stole Christmas (Animated)
The Grinch is one of the most iconic and recognizable Christmas characters in the world, so the fact that both this film and this character are classics makes this movie a good watch. The lovable characters, cute animation and heartwarming message all make this movie a great watch this holiday season!
2.) A Christmas Story
This funny Christmas classic follows a boy’s quest for a “Red Ryder Carbine Action 200-shot Range Model air rifle” and is filled with hilarious antics and unique storytelling from start to finish. Told from the point of view of young Ralphie Parker, his childlike view of the world and juvenile antics and predicaments will get a laugh out of everyone regardless of age.
Elf is the funniest movie on this list, and it is a really family-friendly movie with a happy message and amazing characters. The wildly hilarious antics that Buddy the Elf gets involved in are sure to get a laugh out of you, leaving you feeling warm and fuzzy after the credits roll.
4.) It’s a Wonderful Life
If you’re looking for a warm, wholesome Christmas movie, look no further. This film will surely bring tears to your eyes and is definitely something to watch with family. Prepare to have your heart warmed and eyes wet as you watch George Bailey’s journey through loss and despair, and his final realization that his loved ones are the most important thing.
5.) The Claymation Christmas Specials
These movies are all so adorable and fun to watch. My favorites are Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town and The Year Without a Santa Claus, to name a few. Whether you’re watching these for the first time or to relive the nostalgia of your childhood, these movies are wholesome, fun and beautifully animated. You won’t forget the colorful and unique characters on the Island of Lost Toys, or the constantly bickering Heat Miser and Cold Miser!
6.) A Christmas Carol
There are many different variations of this story, with all kinds of cartoon recreations, modern animations, or live-action specials to choose from. No matter what version you choose, this story is one of the most well-known and heartwarming Christmas tales in the world.
7.) Home Alone
Home Alone is the highest grossing Christmas movie of all time, and with good reason. While those who have seen the movie likely remember the hilarious booby traps and scheming done by Kevin McCallister, it also features a happy family reconciling and a very passionate quest by a mother trying to get back to her stranded child on the busiest night of the year. With the perfect balance of hilarity, drama and joy, this movie is always sure to please.
