As a college student, it’s very important to have a wide variety of staple pieces in your wardrobe. This way, you can create a cute and versatile outfit even when you’re on a time crunch to get to class. Take a look at some of my favorite things in my closet for inspiration!

1.) Olive Anorak
This can easily be worn in the fall as either a jacket or a part of your outfit. I love rolling up the sleeves a little bit and pairing it with a cute scarf. The best part about this piece is its versatility! It goes well with casual outfits but can also be dressed up, and matches so many different colors.

2.) Denim Shirts
Denim shirts are perfect for layering, or they can also be worn by themselves. My two favorites in my wardrobe are this ombre chambray one and this lighter blue one.

3.) Flannels
Who doesn’t love a good old fashioned plaid flannel? They are basically the epitome of a perfect cozy fall top. I love wearing mine over graphic tees or under a warm vest.

4.) Illini Tees
As a current Illinois student, these are a staple in my wardrobe! I have too much Illini gear to count, but these are by far some of my favorite tees.

5.) American Eagle Jeans
In my opinion, there is nothing quite like American Eagle denim. It’s a quality brand that has true-to-size fitting for affordable prices. My favorite style is the high-rise jegging, especially in a darker wash.

6.) Blanket Scarves
A big blanket scarf is the perfect accessory to bundle up with on chilly fall days. Here are three of my favorites because, to be honest, my scarf collection is a little out of hand!

7.) Birkenstocks
Comfiest. Shoes. Ever. Enough said!

8.) Black Flats
A good pair of flats has proven to be another one of the most versatile and well-used staples in my wardrobe. I love wearing them with a nice top and jeans for a more casual look, or with any business casual outfit.

9.) White Converse
As you can tell, these shoes are incredibly worn out. (Personally, I think it gives them more character if they’re broken in instead of brand-new looking.) Any time I’m not sure which shoes to wear with a casual outfit, these are my go-tos.

10.) Knee-High Boots
These boots go so well with everything! I wear them with leggings, jeans, dresses and tights, and just about anything else you can imagine. This is also a great pair of boots to wear with boot socks.

11.) Combat Boots
I’ve had this pair of Steve Madden combat boots for years, and they have proven to be incredibly durable! They are a little pricey, but I would definitely recommend investing in them.
