The polls are in, and comfy chic is the hottest new trend of 2017. Rolling out of bed and walking to class in sweatpants is no longer a sloppy, last-minute outfit choice; all sorts of celebrities have added this look to their wardrobes. Comfortable yet modern, joggers and sweats are a great way to incorporate a hint of athleisure into your OOTD. Here are some ways to dress these pants up and down, for any occasion.
Out and About
If you’re scrambling to put an outfit together before class, joggers are your new BFF. They give off a minimalistic vibe that’s perfect for on-the-go. Pair them with a slightly oversized T-shirt or sweatshirt for a more casual look, or you could go for a cropped shirt to add some structure. Adding a simple pendant, some rings, and/or your favorite watch will increase the outfit’s sophistication. You could also include a denim or leather jacket to make your look appear even more expensive. Throw on a pair of Converse, Vans or quilted low-top sneakers, and you’re ready to take on the day! In terms of beauty tips, a natural look will best complement your easygoing attire. Go for simple makeup and either let your hair down in waves or put it back in a messy ponytail.
Dress to Impress
If you’re hesitant about wearing sweats to formal events, think again! When styled correctly, these slouchy pants are show-stoppers. Tuck a chiffon tank or patterned blouse into your joggers, add a blazer and heels, and be amazed by how professional you look. You can also add statement jewelry to make your outfit stand out even more. As far as hair and makeup go, definitely go all out! Aim for voluminous hair, dramatic eye makeup and bold lips. You will own the room at any event, all while looking great and feeling comfortable.
Mix and Match
If you really want to make a statement, you could go for a pair of joggers in a bright color or crazy print. Styling-wise, you could make your outfit as casual or as fancy as you’d like. The most important thing is to let the joggers speak for themselves. Don’t go overboard with colors or patterns in your look; try to keep the rest of your clothes neutral so that your pants become the focal point. Perhaps you could find a bag, some jewelry or even a nail color that matches the sweats, but other than that, keep it simple. Beauty-wise, you can also mix it up. You could go for classic makeup and an updo, or loose, flowing hair with a smoky eye and defined brows. The possibilities are endless, so experiment with your clothes and accessories until you find the perfect look!
