When I think of winter makeup, the first thing that pops into my mind is a shimmery blue, purple or silver eye shadow, rosy cheeks and pale pink lipstick. The holiday time is perfect for creating that ice cold look without actually being cold. Here are two makeup looks that will be perfect for looking as fierce as the Ice Queen, or toning it down a few notches for something less dramatic.
Look #1: Elsa “Reincarnated”
You do not have to go as far as creating the signature braid – you can definitely do any hairstyle of your choosing. However, in the spirit of the holidays, you may choose to put your hair back to pay homage to Disney’s Ice Queen!
This chilly look is all about the eye makeup and the cheekbones. First, I would start with the brows. Elsa does have pretty thin eyebrows so if you have thicker brows, I would not fill them in too boldly. When re-creating this look ,be careful not to let the purple eyeshadow bleed down to your cheeks. I would advise applying a piece of tape following your lower lash line to the end of your eyebrow. The tape can be removed when you are done with the eyes. You can apply a deep shade of purple to your upper eyes until you reach the color of purple you desire. Apply a lighter purple to your lower lids. After applying the eyeshadow, you can then add your mascara and black eyeliner to the top and bottom lash line.
For your cheekbones, just apply the pinkest blush you own. Be careful not to put on too much, because you just want the look of rosy cheeks. If you add too much, your skin will look blotchy and overly pink. The last thing you should put on is the lipstick. You don’t have to go matte for this look; I would definitely recommend using a pink gloss or high pigmented lipstick. Just let it go and be ready to flaunt your Frozen-inspired makeup everywhere!
Look #2: Mistletoe Kisses
This look is a little less complicated than the Elsa-inspired makeup. It is all about black eyeliner and bold red lips. I would go bold for the eyebrows, just because the look is simple and you will make a statement when you walk into a room. For the eyes, apply the most nude eye shadow in your palette all over both eyelids, then apply your darkest color (preferably black) to the corner of your crease. Be careful to not go to far up with the black shadow: this looks is meant to be minimal but sexy. Then wing out the eyeliner and apply your mascara. If you are scared or not the best at creating winged eyes, you can do the tape trick mentioned above and just apply your liner by following the tape line. You can make your wing as short or long as you would like. Next, apply a medium/dark brown contour along your cheekbones. The contour color will depend on your skin tone.
For the last step, you can either go matte or glossy with the lips. I would pick a bright red matte lip just so you don’t have to worry about reapplying it. You definitely do not have to wear mistletoe in your hair like the girl in the photo; an alternative to this could be wearing a beanie or Christmas-themed pompom hat. Whichever you choose, you will be able to stop any of Santa’s reindeer with your bold eyes and bright red lips.
