As we enter the winter season, it will never be complete without the classic hot chocolate. Whether you’re staying cozy in front of a fireplace or snuggling under the covers in your dorm, hot chocolate brings warmth with every cup. Now make no mistake, not all hot chocolates are made the same, so the real question is: who has the best hot chocolate on campus?
Caffe Bene
Hot chocolate has always been a tradition all year round for Caffe Bene.
Starbucks
Starbucks is known for their special seasonal drinks, and this season they kept the tradition going by reintroducing the following winter delights:
Hot Chocolate
Consisting of steamed milk with vanilla and mocha-flavored syrups, this hot chocolate is topped off with sweetened whipped cream and chocolate drizzle.
Peppermint White Hot Chocolate and Regular Hot Chocolate
The Peppermint White Hot Chocolate is a sweet twist on holiday hot chocolate. It is made with white chocolate mocha sauce, peppermint-flavored syrup and steamed milk topped with sweetened whipped cream and dark chocolate curls.
Starbucks’ Peppermint Hot Chocolate is more of a classic hot chocolate for the holidays, made with regular chocolate mocha sauce, peppermint-flavored syrup and steamed milk with a generous topping of whipped cream and dark chocolate curls.
Hot Chocolate Chile Mocha
This drink takes the traditional cocoa, cinnamon and vanilla you love, then adds a not-so-traditional kick with ancho and cayenne chile spices.
Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate
Steamed milk and mocha sauce are combined with toffee nut and vanilla syrups, then topped with sweetened whipped cream, caramel sauce and a blend of turbinado sugar and sea salt. The sweet is never as sweet without the salt.
Skinny Peppermint Hot Chocolate
All the delicious chocolate and peppermint flavors you love, with fewer calories and less sugar!
McDonald’s
It’s no secret that McDonald’s serves hot chocolate all year round, but for this winter season they did not disappoint with the additions they made. Their holiday drinks are:
Peppermint Hot Chocolate
Freshly brewed and silky smooth, with a hint of mocha and peppermint.
Hot Chocolate
Made with steamed whole or nonfat milk and rich chocolate syrup, this drink is topped with whipped cream and a chocolate or caramel drizzle.
White Chocolate Hot Chocolate
This scrumptious hot chocolate is made with steamed whole or nonfat milk, rich white chocolate syrup and topped with whipped cream.
Whether you’re in rush to class or simply do not have time to stand in long lines, don’t worry! There are many organizations and campus events that will be selling hot chocolate throughout this month on the Quad. So don’t be shy, go by and pick one up! And besides, what better way to end the year than to give back and support others while sipping and enjoying your chosen hot chocolate.
