When I was in high school, I never condoned the idea of listening to music while studying. I found it distracting, and it impaired my ability to focus on homework. However, ever since I started college, the change in academic pace and the fact that I am facing a new chapter of my life has allowed me to find sanctuary in music. It has increased my ability to finish my work.
Although I do listen to music when I study now, I mostly listen before I begin in order to motivate myself. Especially in the midst of midterm season, it’s easy to fall prey to stress when studying this fall. Here’s a list of recommended songs that will not only psych up students to work, it will also enable them to persevere and grow into their new college lives.
In the Name of Love – Martin Garrix ft. Bebe Rexha
679 – Fetty Wap ft. Remy Boys
DJ Khaled – For Free ft. Drake (Anth and Conor Maynard Cover)
Ignition (Remix) – R. Kelly
Needed Me – Rihanna
Exchange – Bryson Tiller
Say It – Tony Lanez
I Took a Pill in Ibiza – Mike Posner
Closer – The Chainsmokers ft. Halsey
Roses – The Chainsmokers ft. ROZES
Rather Be – Clean Bandit ft. Jesse Glynne
Prayer in C – Lilly Wood and The Prick and Robin Schulz
Madcon – Beggin’
It Wasn’t Me – Shaggy
It’s important to approach studying with a positive attitude, and these songs were able to help me transition into college smoothly. With exams ahead of us this fall, we need something fulfilling in our lives, as the colors of our paths will change with updated grades.
