After going 97-65 and getting 3rd place in the National League Central Division, the Chicago Cubs have a tough year to top.
The Cubs fell short of the World Series last year when they were swept by the New York Mets in the National League Championship Series.
After 107 winless years, the Cubs have a real shot at winning the World Series this year. ESPN predicts the Cubs will win the National League Central Division and place first in the division the whole season. Another prediction slates the Cubs to win 100 games this season. This is the year of the Chicago Cubs.
There are some players to watch out for this season. First there’s Jake Lester, who started his career with the Cubs last year and may be even better this season than last. He is all adjusted to playing for the Cubs and should be ready to give his all. Another player to watch for is Javier Baez. Baez made it to the Major Leagues in the last month of last year’s season. This year could be a step forward in his career, especially if he makes it to the starting lineup. The world will see just how good Javier Baez is.
The Cubs open their season on Monday, April 4th against the Los Angeles Angels. The home opener is Monday, April 11th, against the Cincinnati Reds.
