With Thanksgiving coming up, it is important for us all to take a step back from our busy lives to think about and give thanks to the ones that mean the most to us. Whether it is a parent, coach, grandparent or teacher, there is always someone who deserves a little recognition.
Someone who really deserves some thanks in my life is my boyfriend of over a year, Zack Proefriedt. After dating someone for a while, it can be easy to accidentally slip into the habit of taking everything they do for you for granted. I want to take a break from my crazy life to make sure that I acknowledge and thank him for everything he has done for me. I never want to get into the habit of shrugging off everything he does for me as no big deal, when in reality it is.
The biggest reason I am thankful for my boyfriend is that besides my family, Zack is my biggest supporter and always knows how to make me smile. Whenever something good or bad happens in my life, he is the first person that I want to share it with. He holds me when I cry and rejoices with me when times are good.
I am also thankful for Zack because he helps me with my schoolwork and future aspirations. Zack is majoring in Economics and my major is Journalism. Although our majors are completely different, he is always willing to talk things through with me. He is also my number one critic. He expects nothing but the best from me, which helps me to achieve all of my goals.
One last thing about Zack (for now) that I am grateful for is tthat he loves me for me. I never have to pretend to be anyone else in front of him. I can be silly and goofy and he will still love me no matter what. Also, I’m not the only goofy one- we both act really weird around each other. I think about 60 percent of our time together is spent laughing. It is nice not having to try to get him to love me.
Having a significant other makes life so much better, but really, it isn’t just significant others that make life great. Best friends, siblings and other family members are all great people that deserve your recognition and thanks as well. I would like to say thank you to all of my friends and family, but for this article specifically I would like to give a final thanks to my boyfriend Zack Proefriedt. He deserves thanks not only on Thanksgiving, but on every other day of the year too.
