Everyone knows how difficult it is to pick out a Halloween costume. It’s the one time of year when you can dress up as whatever you want.
Personally, I have always been terrible at planning my Halloween costumes. I search for costumes on Pinterest a week before and remind myself that I’m a cheap college student who can’t afford to buy an expensive costume, but it’s possible to pick out a costume that is both fun and affordable.
Dressing up as a cartoon character can be the best way to go because you can craft it as your own. How about dressing up as a minion? They’re so cute and everyone loves them. You’ll definitely need the minion goggles and a yellow long sleeve top. YouTuber Bethany Mota created an entire video about how to make this costume. I would recommend watching it if you wished to be a minion for a day.
The Mario and/or Luigi costume never gets old because we all know it’s a classic. All you really need is the signature hat and a pair of white gloves. Everything else is really up to you and how you want to style it. You can wear red or green Converse and a pair of jeans, or add a girly twist by wearing a tutu like these girls did.
If you want to try something cute that requires only a little preparation, you can be a referee. Seriously, if Beyonce did it, maybe we should try it too. You can get a similar shirt at any costume store and the rest really depends on your style.
Here’s the final costume idea and my personal favorite: DAMIAN FROM MEAN GIRLS! Seriously, who doesn’t know the line, “She doesn’t even go here!” Write it on a piece of paper and hold it up, then throw on a light blue hoodie and black sunglasses and you’re good to go. It’s completely inexpensive.
