This year’s cold, miserable weather has yet to slow down the social scene. This is great, of course, but piling on layers of clothing to go to the bars can be both a hassle and unattractive. Personally, I am nostalgic for those warm early fall nights where you simply threw on a dress and left for the party. However, it is still possible to look both fashionable and practical while going out in the winter if you follow the tips below:
1. Colored tights
Remember those summer dresses packed away in the back of your closet? They can still be worn in the winter if paired with fun tights that give your legs more coverage. You can’t go wrong with classic black, but don’t be afraid to make a statement by wearing the hottest colors of the season on your legs such as burnt orange, burgundy and navy.

2. Faux fur vests and scarves
Faux fur items add a touch of elegance and warmth to any ensemble. You can go classic with a brown fur vest and black.

3. Fleece-lined and leather leggings
Leggings are a staple in nearly every girl’s wardrobe and look especially great on a night out with boots and wedges. However, most are thin and do not keep your legs warm on chilly nights. Opt for thicker leggings with a fleece lining or leather detailing to remedy this problem. Not to mention, leather is always sexy.

4. Inexpensive jacket
No matter how strategic you dress with vests, tights, and leggings, wearing a coat can be inevitable sometimes. Scour the sale racks or search at a thrift store for an inexpensive jacket that you don’t mind losing or ruining at a bar or party.

5. Beanies
These hats scream cool and cute without trying too hard. You can find one in just about every color and this season, many have sayings on them. They keep your ears warm on those below zero nights and their trendy. Pair with a fun lip color and dress.
